Best Restaurants on Maui for a Date Night

The most famous restaurant in Hawaii, and the most expensive, but it's earned both distinctions. The fish is named on the menu with the name of the fisherman who caught it and where. The setting — an open-air room right above the water at Kuʻau Cove — is extraordinary. Reservations book weeks to months out. Worth every bit of planning for the right occasion.

Set on the grounds of the Maui Tropical Plantation, with views of the upcountry mountains. The menu is aggressively local-sourced and the setting during golden hour is genuinely beautiful. A little less famous than Mama's, which means reservations are more accessible, and the quality is comparable.

Sheldon Simeon (Top Chef finalist) runs this counter-service spot in a Kahului strip mall that serves some of the most interesting food on Maui. The mochiko chicken and the garlic noodles are the things to get. It's casual, fast, and very good — the kind of date that works well because the food is actually exciting enough to talk about.

A sit-down dinner spot at The Shops at Wailea. Sheldon Simeon opened it, and since 2020 it has been led by chef MiJin Kang Toride. Expect shareable plates and creative cocktails in a relaxed room, a step up from Tin Roof without feeling formal.
