Dating on Oʻahu

Updated October 12, 2026 · Kamaʻāina Date team, Honolulu

Kamaʻāina Date is a dating community only for Hawaiʻi. On Oʻahu that covers Honolulu, Kailua, Kāneʻohe, Mililani, Kapolei, ʻEwa Beach and the North Shore. It's free to create a profile, and you can choose to see people on your island or across the state.

What dating on Oʻahu is like

Oʻahu is the most populated island, so it has the biggest mix: locals, students, service members, and people who just moved. Traffic shapes dating here. Someone in Kapolei and someone in Kailua can feel far apart at rush hour, so pick a first-date spot that's fair to both of you.

Meeting people on Oʻahu

Oʻahu has the most going on, so the trick is picking one regular thing and sticking with it. Town has run clubs, climbing gyms and community classes. Kailua and Kāneʻohe have paddling and beach-park culture. Speed dating and mixers happen mostly in Honolulu (see Honolulu singles events).

First-date picks on Oʻahu

In town: the Honolulu Museum of Art café, a Kakaʻako mural walk, or sunset at Magic Island. Near Waikīkī: malasadas on Kapahulu and a walk toward Kapiʻolani Park (Waikīkī date spots). Windward: Kailua Beach in the morning.

Before any first date, read our first-date safety guide.

Getting around for dates

TheBus runs routes around the island, and the Skyline rail line serves parts of west and central Oʻahu, so a car-free first date is realistic in town. Outside town, plan around rush-hour traffic on the H-1 and the Pali and Likelike highways.
