Dating in Hawaiʻi when you're stationed here

Updated October 12, 2026 · Kamaʻāina Date team, Honolulu

Kamaʻāina Date is an independent dating community for everyone in Hawaiʻi, including people on orders. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. military or the Department of Defense.

Be upfront about your timeline

People here have watched a lot of friends date someone who left after a few years. Saying early how long you expect to be here, and what you'd want after a move, builds trust fast.

Get off base

Join things locals already do: paddling clubs, beach cleanups, community classes, farmers markets. Learn place names, respect ʻāina, and don't treat the islands like a vacation. See Hawaiian cultural values in dating.

Single in Hawaiʻi? Kamaʻāina Date is free to join, no card needed. Join as a founding member.

Romance scams target service members

Scammers often pose as deployed service members, or target people in the military. Never send money, gift cards or crypto to someone you haven't met. You can report impersonation to the FTC. Read our fake-profile guide.

Stay safe on a first date

Meet somewhere public, tell a friend where you'll be, and get yourself there and home. Never send money or gift cards to someone you haven't met. Read the safety center and how to spot fake profiles.
